With 37 years of experience in the banking industry, Mr. Abdul Halim Chowdhury began his career as a Senior Officer on probation at Bangladesh Krishi Bank in 1984, and was promoted to Branch Manager within six months of joining. In 1988, he joined Pubali Bank Limited as a Principal Officer, where he held various important positions including Manager, Head of Corporate Branch, Regional Manager, Division Head, Deputy Managing Director, Additional Managing Director, and ultimately became the Managing Director & CEO in 2015. During his tenure as Managing Director and CEO of the bank, he successfully led the organization in the right direction, and achieved a landmark profit of Tk. 1,000 crore. Mr. Chowdhury also served as an Ex-Officio member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the bank and as a member of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of Islamic Banking.

Mr. Chowdhury attended a number of prestigious programs, including an International Bankers seminar in Langkawi, Malaysia in 2006, a workshop on value creation in Banking and Strategic Management organized by INSEAD in France in 2015, and the 'Global Banking Paradigm Shift' in Mumbai. He also participated in the training program 'Citi’s Cyber Security and Share Best Practices' in September 2016, and the 'Cambridge Executive Program in Corporate Governance' organized by Standard Chartered Bank held in the United Kingdom in April 2019. Additionally, he has attended various training sessions, seminars, and courses on banking, management, and leadership both domestically and internationally, conducted by different international banks, forums, and training institutes. Mr. Chowdhury has extensive travel experience across the globe and has visited several countries including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Bahrain, Singapore, Denmark, Canada, and France. He is also a corporate member of Dhaka Club Ltd.
